2 States

I'm in a phase where watching movies is all that's happening in my life now. Think I'm watching one everyday.

Started with the movie "2 States" being the talk of Bollywood town now. Its a good, one time watch movie. Kinda felt lot of things have been missed out when compared to the book. But that was expected anyways. Arjun and Alia look cute together. Loved Alia's clothes and jewellery. Music is catchy and nothing in the movie is dragged. So there isn't a minute you would be bored. I watched with my mum and she really liked everything except few kissing scenes, where she just turned to me asked if this was necessary. Like i made the movie. I just told her to ignore and continue watching. :)

I was happy to see Alia in this role. Kinda got irritated with her character in "Student of the year". Think "Highway" and "2 States" has changed my opinion on her acting skills.

Last week, I also watched Wedding Daze, Revenge of the Bridesmaids, The Yellow Handkerchief and Crazy Stupid Love.

Wedding Daze and Revenge of the Bridesmaids were fun, again one time watch. Really liked The Yellow Handkerchief. Kristen Stewart has done good acting and somehow i had not even heard of this movie till last week. This was suggested by YouTube to me and just clicked on it. Turned out to be a good one. Its a quite movie with a simple story. Really good and worth a watch. I had watched Crazy Stupid Love once before and forgotten all about it. Anyways it was a nice movie.

Two more books

Last week, I took my Book Challenge seriously and read two amazing books. David Baldacci's "First Family" and Khaled Hosseini's "And the Mountains Echoed"

"First Family" was published in 1962. Story is all about Kidnapping and revenge. Few chapters had me in tears while understanding the Kidnapper's motive behind his actions. This was my first book of David Baldacci and now I'm looking online to buy few others. I really liked the way its written, nothing was dragged unnecessary. I never once had a feeling of knowing how its all going to end. Really liked this part in the book as i hate it when half way through the book, I get a feeling of knowing the end which makes me lose interest in turning the pages. You will just have to read “First Family” to find out everything.

Now coming to Khaled Hosseini's "And the Mountains Echoed". Oh god, What can i say about this awesome book? I was glued to it for a whole day. Yes, I just didn't feel like putting it down till the end. Ever character, every page was just perfectly written. Each chapter is through different character's perspective and shows the connection between all. Now, I knew this book was going to be just great anyways, having read his other two books and loving it completely. I highly recommend all three of his books to everyone. Looking forward to read more from him obviously.

I just realized that I've only read five books in two months. Hmm. Hope to read not less than six in the coming month.

Letters to Juliet

Watched "Letters to Juliet" for the fifth time and loved every bit of it.

Amanda Seyfried is so cute and such a natural when it comes to acting. Have liked her in all the movies she's acted in which I've watched till now. This being my favorite one. The story, acting, songs, characters are just perfect. Actors chosen are amazing. I recommend this one to all those who love romance and believe in Happy Endings. The movie was inspired by the 2006 non-fiction book, Letters to Juliet, by Lise Friedman and Ceil Friedman. I haven't read the book. Hmm I'm not sure if i have.

"Letters to Juliet" is directed by Gary Winick who has also made movies 13 Going on 30 and Bride Wars which were both good.

A small Maybe

This feeling called Happiness is so strange. Its with you for sometime and then disappears. Then its back when its least expected by you. Just when you are getting settled with a bit of it, goes away all of a sudden leaving you with all the other feelings that you don't want.

With Happiness leaving, you have anger, hurt, jealousy, pity, aggression all together. As if having all these would compensate on what's lost. No way any of these feelings can even come close to making us feel better. Worst of it, we can't let go of any of these feeling and try to be a robot. We had no control on keeping Happiness with us, just like how we have no control on letting go on the other feelings.

We drown, We do every minute. This super power or God or whatever you call it, takes us down. We drown till the end just to make us meet Him. You see, He is at the bottom of it all. This is where we meet Hope. This meeting does not turn everything around and makes things better in a minute. But it sure does make us feel that maybe you have another chance at finding Happiness.

But when you've lost everything, a small maybe makes a difference.

Weekful of Movies..!!

All i have been doing for past few days is work, watch movies and read books. I'm not just reading 'cos of the book challenge I've got myself into. Used to read not less than three to four books a month and few weeks back something made me realize that its not been the same. I wasn't busy or anything. But i hadn't read a book in months. Or took more than three months to finish just one. So decided to put on a challenge on myself to read not less than 20 books this year. I really want to read more than that.

Watching movies is something I'll always enjoy. So made time in between work, sleep and books to watch good movies. I have a list for this too. List of movies to be watched this year..!! God.. I've been making lists for everything. Anyways. Watched a few last week and plan to do the same this week as well. :)

Started with Dear John, followed by The Seven Year Hitch, Raising Helen, The Memory Keepers Daughter and William and Kate.

Really really loved Dear John and The Memory Keepers Daughter. Had read the books and was waiting to watch the movies. Finally did. Loved both. I don't know why i decided to watch the story of Prince William and Kate. It's OK. Not all that great. I had watched Raising Helen long back and kinda forgotten. Remembered liking it back then, so wanted to watch. Liked it all over again..!!

Now, I'm trying to make a list of restaurants to visit in Bangalore this year. Suggestions would be nice.. :)
